Tristan + Hayley | Engagement Session | Goldfield Ghost Town

Jun 8, 2018

“I look at you and see the rest of my life in front of my eyes.”

It’s a beautiful morning sunrise in Phoenix, AZ. Little did Hayley know in a couple of hours she would be saying “Yes!” to marrying the man of her dreams. It was an unlikely path up to this point. High School sweethearts that separated then crossed paths again only to find themselves in a long distance relationship and now just 8 months away from saying “I do”. But we can’t go too much further without telling you a little more about the proposal.

Tristan had woken up like any other day and suggested that they go on an early morning hike up Camelback mountain in Phoenix Arizona. Hayley was initially reluctant, as she had just gotten over the flu bug… but soon agreed. For a brief moment Tristan wasn’t sure if she wanted to hike, making him a little anxious. He knew everything he had planned, depended on that early morning hike. Having said yes, they packed up and off they went. To Hayley’s surprise, the bag Tristan was carrying had her soon to be engagement ring inside. But like anything in life things don’t always go perfectly. As they scaled the mountain to catch the sunrise something happened. Hayley wasn’t feeling so well. Then it hit her. The most romantic thing ever …. she vomited! Tristan knew, what was about to happen would be all worth it, so they pushed through and made it to the top. Staying true to their morning routine, Tristan pulled out their bible for a morning bible study to which Hayley was presented with a stunning engagement ring! But this wasn’t just any ring. This ring held the very diamond that Hayley’s father, who has passed away, gave to her mother!

Tristan, months earlier, had reached out to Hayley’s mother asking for permission to have the honor to use the diamond for the engagement ring. Her mother willingly said yes. Beaming with joy Hayley shouted “Yes!” They enjoyed a moment together and trekked back down Camelback Mountain. However, there was one more surprise. When they returned back to Hayley’s parents, Hayley was greeted by both sides of their family! Tristan had arranged for his parents to fly in so they could all celebrate together. But, there was even a surprise for Tristan, originally only mom and dad were going to be there. He soon discovered that his two brothers had flown in as well. The rest of the day was nothing but celebration, as two families were now joined through the love Tristan and Hayley had for each other.

We are so unbelievably excited to photograph their wedding in December as their love story continues. Stay tuned for Part II of their engagement session.

This engagement session took place at the Goldfield Ghost Town located in Apache Junction, Arizona. This was Buchanan Photography’s first time there and we immediately fell in love. It’s historic, unique, peaceful, and provided an opportunity for one of a kind photos. Love this location and want to learn more about engagement sessions?
