When destiny comes across your phone through an image you squeal with excitement and think about the WHAT IF! That’s from the mindset of Kristi… Mike on the other hand… FROZE when he saw her picture… chest thumping, palms sweating nervousness creeped through his entire body. “Was this really happening, was she really available and interested in meeting me?”

Introduced through mutual friends that were dating, fate stepped in and the rest is history. I’ll never forget the goosebumps that soared through my body the night we met these two for dinner. The energy they shared, electrifying the table we were sitting at, it was intoxicating. The way he looked at her, the giddy smile that took over her face, these two are completely head over heels for each other. We toasted to their engagement, to their upcoming epic engagement session, and the planning of their wedding. Raising our grapefruit sangrias, we both knew this was the start to not only a client/photog relationship but a friendship! 

Sharing the love of being boy moms, Kristi and I   hit it off in the mom chatter department. She couldn’t wait to include all the kids in the engagement session, all 5 boys to be exact… and we got right to planning. We needed somewhere central for them, their oldest is in college at NAU, and the others would be driving up with them from Scottsdale. So, what’s more epic and magical than Sedona??? NOTHING… it was a no brainer. We chose this location because the original location was rained out.. and boy am I  so glad Mother Nature stepped in to once again guide this love story. 

You can find this location at Devils Bridge Trailhead which offers a perfect location for adventurous engagement photos without having to work too hard … AKA no hiking required. There are bathrooms close, and flat terrain to walk on. It has become one of our go to spots because there are so many different areas to capture, you can’t take a bad picture and the scenery is breathtaking.

During their session the rain started to roll in, giving us a dreamy sky to play with, our own natural soft box. The boys were there ready to go, so we started out with a family session, one to signify the blended bond that was being forged together and the love the kids had for their parents getting married was beautiful. When we were done capturing some family fun, and some entertaining individualism from the boys, they took off and went to get us a table at a nearby restaurant. Now… it was Mom and Dads time.

The session got steamy and we had a blast, laughing and capturing all the cuddles, and kisses. We can guide almost anyone into the correct posing with their partner, one thing I  can’t guide is chemistry… you want a chemistry lesson… come to a shoot with these two as the subjects and there can be a lot to learn! We had a blast down to every single rain drop that started to fall. The creative team did an amazing job… from Vivienne with makeup, to Ella with hair… you guys ROCK!

Tell us about the engagement! 

Mike proposed so candidly , nothing fancy , in my bathroom on valentines Morning with my two boys . It was more perfect than I could have imagined .

Tell us about the engagement session, what was your style theme, and what special elements did you want to include? 

Clean , earth tones either a small pop of deep color . We wanted to include our family!

What was your favorite moment during your engagement session?

Being able to share it with our FIVE kids!

Whats one piece of advice you would give to another couple planning or on the fence about an engagement session?

If you are not sure if you want to spend the extra money or time on something like this , I promise you it is worth every bit . We now have a large canvas of our family that was taken during this session, hanging in our home and it’s so special to us.
